Joe and I headed back home where I had my second meal of the day which was cauliflower and chicken with garlic and turmeric on it.
Joe and I headed to pick up a loaner car as the shop needed to keep mine while they waited for parts. I ate my lunch on the way which was a pork chop, cauliflower and rice.
She got into a discussion about non-violent communication (NVC) and I was ecstatic! This is the same theory that I have been learning about with the Leadership Group. It really warmed my heart to know that she has some of the same beliefs that I do! I shared my experience with using OFNR (an NVC tool) with Ethan and how effective this was for me. This was not well-received by some of the parents in the room. In fact, one was quite offended and I really felt attacked by that person! I stood my ground and indicated that it worked for me and may not work for others. I loved how some other parents shared some other ideas that they used with their children. It is always cool to have some new tools to try out when something else isn't working. One parent shared how writing worked really well for her children. What a cool idea! Another parent shared how she used deep breathing to get into a better frame of mind, a technique that she had learned at a Pema Chodron workshop. I have read some Pema Chodron material before and loved the reminder about this technique.
I headed home to dinner with Joe and Ethan. I had chicken with turmeric and garlic, Brussels sprouts, and pumpkin with spices.
I am really looking forward to bringing him home to be with us full-time next summer.
