I am really enjoying lifting weights again. It has been many years since I did that and I forgot how good it feels to work my muscles to the point of exhaustion and watch them grow and sculpt because of the hard work that I am putting in! I love various types of exercises for different reasons. I love running as I find it very meditative. I love HIIT for a different kind of exhaustion than you get from weights. I love Yoga for the relaxation and peace that it gives me. I am grateful that I vary my workouts every so often to keep myself motivated and engaged while focusing on whatever outcome I am currently working towards. I will be doing weights and running until my competition and then I will likely change things up again. This also keeps my body guessing so that it continues to get better instead of becoming efficient and not working as hard!
I had my superfood protein shake with Recover in it after my workout of course to fuel my hard working muscles with the nutrients they need to recover and repair.
After getting Ethan to school, I ate my second meal of the day which was salmon and green beans.
Then I had my book club call. This week we talked about a wonderful priority "hack" if you will. I really liked the idea of it and feel that it will be very useful for me this year when I write my outcomes for the coming year.
Last year I started writing 100 outcomes for the coming year. 10 outcomes in each of 10 categories. I will continue this for this year. It will be wonderful to go back over the list and check off things that I have accomplished over the year as I rewrite the list for this year.
After book club I did some errands and then headed to meet my friend Paul for lunch. I haven't seen him in years and he contacted me out of the blue to catch up.
We had a wonderful chat and it was really cool to have someone who is raw and real to converse with. I appreciate his honesty and the questions that he asked as well as the comments that he made.
For example, he indicated to me that he didn't feel that people would care about what I ate and the exercise that I was doing each day for my upcoming competition. When I explained to him that the reason I was sharing these details was so that people could see how simple it was and that they could do it too provided they were willing to make the changes and commitment required.
We also talked about the learns that I have taken away from the previous books that I have read on book club. One of these relevant learns lately has been when I wake in the morning and don't feel like getting up to do my workout. Through the Productivity Project, I have learned to respect my Future Self and so instead of expecting my self of the evening to have more energy and desire to workout than my self of the morning, I just get up and do my workout. This one lesson has really helped with my habit of procrastinating! It also helps to keep the outcome in front of my face - my upcoming competition. It is when I lost sight of my outcome that I falter and things become shaky for me.
I am so glad he connected and look forward to more thought provoking conversations in the near future.
While we chatted I ate my lunch with was sardines, spinach, green beans, and rice.
I headed to pick Ethan up and then we came home. It was nice to just come home instead of heading to the skate park for a change.
For dinner I had salmon, pasta with lentils, and spinach.
As Ethan got ready for bed I received a call from my mentor, Suzan to invite me to be the host at her leadership event on Saturday. What an honour! I am excited about this!
I got Ethan to bed and then I called Suzan back to discuss my mindset. I am so grateful to my team for helping me to course correct when I derail!
Do you have a group of people surrounding you that lift you up? Encourage you to make your best better? Tell you can do it? Pour belief into you and show you the person that you can become? It has been said by many great leaders including Jim Rohn that we are the sum of the 5 people we spend the most time with. I am grateful that my tribe of people truly pour greatness into me and help me to shine like the bright light that I am!
