I get to scan it internally and check out what is going on. This helps to form how I take care of myself for the day. Perhaps I do some particular stretches to help ease discomfort in one part of my body. Perhaps I notice something that is going on that I need to monitor and potentially attend the Dr for. It's all about letting my body know that I am listening and that I am here to take care of it. It is all about me letting myself know that I am worth it!
How do you connect with your body each day? If you don't, I encourage you to begin a daily practice of listening to the messages that it has to share with you. Over time these messages will get more pronounced until you finally listen to them. For example, I felt my tumour grow.
It started as a discomfort in my left breast. I thought I had bruised myself doing a Yoga pose as that was when I initially felt the discomfort. As the tumour grew, I was sure that it was a cyst. It didn't have the typical behaviours or symptoms of a tumour. When it got to be about a grape size over a year time frame (which is quite aggressive), I decided that it would be a good idea to get it checked just in case. Good thing I did! Through the physical exams, the mammograms, and the ultrasounds, all the Drs also thought it was a cyst. It wasn't until the biopsy that the Dr realized that it was a tumour because there was blood. The results came back from the biopsy as a tumour. It was through my daily check-ins with my body that I was able to monitor the situation and seek help when it was needed. I have heard of people who find out they have a tumour the size of a grapefruit before they realize it!
I share this story with you to encourage you to have a positive relationship with your body so that you can see the early warning signs of dis-ease and work to rectify the situation. Daily check-ins could save your life!
After meditation I got up and did my workout. Thursdays are lower body. It was a tough workout as I tweaked my knee doing walking lunges earlier in the week. I ended up doing the last 2 sets of squats without weight and I did static lunges with the front leg elevated on a stair at the suggestion from Coach Michelle.
Of course after my workout I had my superfood protein shake with Recover added to it.
After I took Ethan to school, I headed to do errands again today. When they did maintenance on my car the other day, the dust shield didn't go back on quite right so I needed to get that adjusted. At the dealership I had salmon and spinach for my second meal of the day.
I had a call with my mentor Suzan to talk about my role for the upcoming Leadership training on Saturday. I am super-excited! It is an honour to be asked to participate! In the past I would have scripted the whole thing out, but I am learning to trust in myself and the process. I have made a few point form notes and have faith that I will rock it and will do exactly what I need to do and serve the audience well!
I had my third meal of the day which was tuna, green beans, and rice and then got some work done.
I then headed to town to a Dr appointment and then to pick Ethan up from school.
We headed to the skate park to meet up with his friend Kayden. They were super excited to see each other and had a great time scootering and running around. I enjoyed having a tea and enjoyable conversation with Don, Kayden's dad, while we watched the boys have fun!
Ethan and I headed home to see Joe as he was home from Ottawa early this week which was nice. He was very gracious and made us dinner and then we watched a dirt bike stunt documentary together before Ethan headed to bed. Dinner was curried beef, rice with curry on it, and cauliflower. It was very yummy!
