Ethan has a hockey tournament that started today up near Vaughan. Joe drove up. It was a nice drive and I ate some of my meals on the way. My second meal was turkey and broccoli.
Ethan played a little tablet and I attempted to have a nap ; however, that didn't happen. I rested though which helped with the early morning wake up.
Just before we got to the hockey rink, I had my third meal of the day which was turkey and cauliflower.
Ethan's team won their first game which was very exciting. They have developed into quite the team - working together and helping each other out. It is so wonderful to see.
After the game, we headed to check in at the hotel and then I did my workout. Friday was cardio which I did on the recumbent bike and then I did upper body day 2 again per Coach Michelle as well as core. After my workout I had my other superfood protein shake with Recover in it and hit the shower.
The whole team headed to Vinnie Zucchini's for a team dinner. It is a buffet up in the Vaughan Mills mall. I highly recommend it! They have something for everyone and a wide variety of selections. We steered clear of the pizza, pasta, and dessert counters as these aren't things that we typically eat in our house due to being gluten- and dairy-free. I had a small piece of salmon and a bit of lobster along with peas and mushrooms and sweet potatoes. My low/medium day was supposed to be Saturday, but I switched it since we were doing the buffet. Ethan and Joe also enjoyed their meal eating lots of seafood. There was calamari, mussels, salmon, lobster, etc.
After dinner we headed back to the hotel and the kids played mini-stick hockey in the hall together. They then played a bit of tablet and then headed to the pool for a swim.
While Ethan was out, I washed up my lunch dishes so that I could pack for the next day. This is what traveling while training for a fitness competition looks like.
When Ethan got back, he had a quick shower to rinse of the chlorine from the pool and then we all headed to bed a little later than we usually do. That's what tournaments are all about!
Today's lesson is that it is easy to travel while training!
