It was a ketosis day 1 day for me so that meant that I had two superfood protein shakes with nut butter in them and three meals. Two of the meals were high fat meat with green veggies and the other one was low fat meat with nut and green veggies. I am especially enjoying these high fat days. They feel like treats and decadence!
After packing up food and sending Ethan off to school with Joe who was going to write his test, I did some work. When it was time to attend book club, I did my second cardio workout and core exercises while I was on the call.
I then packed up my food and got ready to go. I headed in to have lunch with my friend, Paul. We had an interesting conversation about veganism. As someone who has studied holistic nutrition for over 10 years, I see the pros and cons of each eating lifestyle and believe that they can all be very healthful for some people provided they are done correctly. It is important to ensure that we get all the nutrients that our bodies need so they can function in the way they are meant to. I also believe that certain eating lifestyles are not for everyone. I know for me I have tried vegetarianism twice and actually got quite sick and fat from it both times. I had to eat way too much food to satiate me. I thought that it was because I didn't understand nutrition the first time that I tried it, but the second time I had studied holistic nutrition and definitely knew what I was doing. I choose to eat grass-fed, hormone- and antibiotic-free meat and wild fish. There's a really great book that talks about eating right for your blood type that you may want to read and see what may work for you. That being said, there are lots of type O blood types who have successfully become vegetarian or vegan.
After lunch I headed to Ethan's school to perform a health and safety audit on the school yard. I sit on the Health and Safety Committee at the school. After the review, Ethan and I headed home to see Joe. We had dinner and then Joe headed back to Ottawa as he had to work Thursday and Friday.
Ethan and I then got ready for bed. I read him a chapter in The Land of Stories and then we headed off to sleep. I am grateful to be back to working out; however, I am feeling especially tired this week still. I am still not totally recovered from last week so it's important to respect my body and have more rest.
