Colour affects our moods.
In my sauna, I have a colour therapy light. Depending on which emotion I want to enhance or work on will determine which colour I will have on when I am in the sauna meditating. Due to the effect that colour has on you, be careful about which colours you have in your home and in which rooms. e.g. You will want calm and soothing colours in your bedroom so that sleep is promoted.
We can see from the above list that the colours represent negative and positive emotions.
Ayurvedic thinking indicates that we have seven main chakras in our bodies that are at certain points along the spine. These chakras are energy centres or wheels that manage specific body systems.
The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine and represents the idea of survival and grounding us to the Earth. The colour red is associated with this chakra.
The Sacral Chakra is located in the lower abdomen area and looks after the reproductive systems. Orange is the colour that is linked to this chakra.
The Power Chakra is located at the solar plexus region in our body. It governs personal power and ego. The organs in this region are the stomach, liver, gall bladder and pancreas. The colour yellow is used to balance these systems.
The Heart Chakra is located in the heart area of the body. It looks after the heart, lungs, and thymus gland. The colour is green.
The Throat Chakra is in the throat area. Blue balances the throat, ears, and mouth areas.
The Third Eye Chakra is located in the middle of the forehead in between the eyebrows. This connects us to our intuition and is centred with indigo.
The last Chakra is the Crown Chakra is located at the crown of the head. It looks after the brain and the pituitary gland and the colour purple.
